[mo]re than a run is a community-driven running event that unites people around the world to support mental health and well-being. It’s more than just a run—it’s a movement designed to mobilise runners, spark conversations, and raise funds for mental health initiatives. Whether you're a solo runner or part of a club, the focus isn’t on speed or competition—it’s about showing up, connecting, and making an impact.

Unlike traditional running events, [mo]re than a run isn’t about podium finishes or personal bests. It’s about bringing people together for a purpose—raising awareness for mental health and breaking down the stigma around it. By the end of 2026, we aim to mobilise 25,000 runners globally and raise $5 million for mental health organisations by 2030.

Australia: For the 30% rise in the number of Australian men dying by suicide over the last decade.

New Zealand: For the more than 30% of New Zealanders who have personally experienced mental distress.

Who can participate in [mo]re than a run?

Anyone and everyone! Whether you’re a seasoned marathoner, a weekend jogger, or just looking for a meaningful way to get involved, [mo]re than a run is for you. You can join as:

  • An individual runner – Take part solo, wherever you are in the world.
  • A run club member – Join your run club participating in [mo]re than a run.
  • A run club organiser – Rally your community and host an event in your city.

You don’t need to be an elite athlete. [mo]re than a run is inclusive of all paces, backgrounds, and abilities—because mental health affects everyone, and so does our movement.

Not a runner? No worries! You can support by donating, volunteering, or sponsoring a participant to help make a difference.

How does [mo]re than a run support mental health?

100% of donations raised through [mo]re than a run go directly to mental health organisations like Movember and CALM (UK), funding programs for suicide prevention, mental health education, and community support. Beyond fundraising, the event itself creates a space for open conversations, connection, and collective action.

[mo]re than a run is a global movement with events in Australia, the UK, New Zealand, and beyond. Some of the major cities where we’ve hosted events include:

We are constantly expanding into new locations. If there isn’t an event near you, you can still take part virtually by registering as an individual runner or hosting a run.

How is the event structured?

Community-led runs take place in major cities across the world. These events bring together local run clubs, individuals, and community groups for a shared experience that supports mental health awareness and fundraising.

🌍 Virtual Participation

Can’t make it to an official event? You can run anywhere, anytime! Simply sign up, choose a route that suits you, and share your run with our community online.

🎽 Run Club-Led Events

Run clubs play a huge role in [mo]re than a run, coming together in collaboration and hosting events in different cities. If you’re a run club leader, you can organise a local run, bring your community together, and be part of something bigger.

[mo]re than a run exists to mobilise the running community in support of mental health and well-being. It’s a movement built around breaking down barriers, starting conversations, raising awareness, and ultimately saving lives.

Running is powerful—not just for physical health but for mental resilience, connection, and community. [mo]re than a run taps into that power, creating a space where people come together, not just to run, but to make an impact.

Our goal is clear: 25,000 runners globally by 2026 and $5 million raised for mental health initiatives by 2030. Every step we take is a step toward creating real change in the lives of those struggling with mental health challenges.

How It Started and Who’s Behind It?

[mo]re than a run was founded by Alex and Olly, two passionate runners and mental health advocates who saw a gap in the running community—a lack opportunities for collaboration among run clubs. They knew running had the potential to do more than just bring people together—it could drive social impact. and save lives

What started as a grassroots movement has now grown into a global initiative, uniting thousands of runners across the world for a shared cause: mental health advocacy.
